We always find that having a goal to work towards helps keep us motivated for training, so we've put together a list of seven of the races Precision Hydration are most looking forward to in 2020.
Hopefully our 'Magnificent Seven' provide you with some inspiration for the year ahead...
1) Maverick Adidas Terrex Original New Forest
Where: Holmsley, New Forest, UK
When: Saturday 11th January 2020
Why: Maverick offer an early season trail running event that provides the perfect opportunity to burn off those festive mince pies (and the New Year's Eve tequila shots).
There's three different distances for trail runners of all abilities (6km, 17km, 24km) and the 'relatively' flat course takes in the picturesque New Forest.
Still not convinced? Team PH are taking part, so come along and say 'hi'!
2) ÖtillÖ Swimrun Catalina
Where: Catalina Island, USA
When: 29th February - 1st March 2020
Why: Whether you're an experienced swimrunner or new to the sport, there's a race for you on Catalina Island.
The 'Experience Race' is 7.8km long with 3 swims (the longest is 800m);
The 'Sprint Race' is 14.9km with 4 swims (the longest is 1,400m);
And the 'World Series Race' is 37.9km with 7 swims (the longest is 1,600m).
The swim sections involve diving into crystal clear waters, abundant with beautiful fish, and you get to run amongst the stunning surroundings of Catalina when on land.
Still need an added incentive? You'll get to race against PH's Andy, Jonny and Sean-O!
3) Ultra X Sri Lanka
Where: Colombo, Sri Lanka
When: 21st - 29th March 2020
Why: The Ultra X Sri Lanka comes with 5 UTMB qualifying points and this is a once in a lifetime experience as you take in the diverse and historic landscape that Sri Lanka has to offer.
This five-day ultra covers a total distance of 250km and concludes with a camp fire and BBQ, so you can sit down and reflect on an amazing experience with fellow participants (whilst eating your own body weight in BBQ delights).
4) The Devil's Challenge
Where: The South Downs Way, UK
When: 1st - 3rd May 2020
Why: XNRG are famous for their walking, running and ultra running events, and this 97-mile ultra marathon along the South Downs Way is a proper challenge.
Starting in Winchester in Hampshire, you will pass the famous Devil's Dyke Valley, before finishing in the seaside town of Eastbourne, Sussex.
5) Hokey Cokey Swimrun St Austell
Where: Cornwall, UK
When: Saturday 23rd May 2020
Why: Mad Hatter Sports' Hokey Cokey Swimrun will take place for a 6th time at St Austell Bay in Cornwall and this isn't to be missed. Located in the coastal harbour village of Charlestown, there's a long course and a short course on offer.
Long = 13.8km of running and 5.2km of swimming across 11 stages.
Short = 7.8km of running and 2.5km of swimming across 7 stages.
You can take in the St Austell coastline with a friend or simply race on your own, and it's the perfect opportunity to dip your toe into the 'South West's Toughest Multi-Sport Event'!
6) ÖtillÖ Swimrun Isles of Scilly
Where: Isles of Scilly, UK
When: 13th - 14th June 2020
Why: This ÖtillÖ Swimrun event offers a unique experience as the Isles of Scilly involves a rugged, yet beautiful, racing backdrop.
Far removed from your traditional view of British seaside towns, the Isles of Scilly are simply stunning (although dress sensibly as the water temperatures can still be on the nippy side at around 14 degrees...). Plus, you'll be able to top up on PH 500 at the aid stations ;)
7) Haute Route Alps
Where: The Alps, France
When: 22nd - 28th August 2020
Why: This is the ultimate Haute Route experience.
The start line boasts the iconic Mont Blanc as its backdrop before riders take on the magnificent Alps during the course of seven memorable days and 800km of cycling (oh, and just the 10,500ft of elevation).
Can't make it to France? Fear not, Haute Route offer 3-day and 7-day events all over the world.
Hopefully we've provided you with some inspiration for new races to try during the year ahead!
