Adam is a professional runner who competed at a national standard in athletics and swimming earlier in his career, representing Great Britain and England at cross country and on the track and road.
Adam specialised in the 3km steeplechase and he finished 9th at the 2006 Commonwealth Games, before being crowned British National Champion and Olympic trials winner in 2008.
Seeking a new challenge, Adam moved into triathlon and was accepted as a member of British Triathlon’s talent identification program. Following a 2016 ITU World Triathlon Series where he finished the season ranked in 9th place, Adam achieved his highest placing in an individual ITU World Series event when he finished 4th at Leeds in 2017.
Adam turned his attention to longer distances racing, winning his first IM 70.3 in Dubai and he is the current British record holder over the middle-distance.
In 2021, Adam will be focusing his attention on marathon racing.
