Simple and clean fueling products have been a game changer for me. I've been able to train harder, recover better, and best of all, charge really hard at the end of races, which make a meaningful difference in both results and how much fun it is to race.
Nick Handel
Elite Ultrarunner
Nick focuses on mountainous trail races, with a particular affinity for technical terrain and steep climbs.
Based in San Francisco, Nick’s athletic foundation was built in track and cross country before he moved into triathlon during his time at UCLA. He eventually found his true calling on the trails through the San Francisco Running Company (SFRC) community. Nick is a four-time consecutive winner of the historic Quad Dipsea (2022–2025), where he set a blistering new course record of 3:39:45. His breakthrough seasons in 2023 and 2024 were highlighted by wins at the Mammoth Trail Fest 50k and the Big Alta 28k, as well as podium finishes at the Broken Arrow Skyrace 46k and Speedgoat 50k, and a top-10 performance at the UTMB World Series Finals (OCC) in Chamonix.
Outside of racing, Nick is a data scientist and entrepreneur. He is continuously experimenting and optimising his nutrition, making a partnership with Precision an obvious choice for his training and racing. He relies on a personalised fueling strategy to maintain consistency across the variable conditions of high-altitude mountain ultras.
