Every year, the Precision Fuel & Hydration team sign up for a BHAG - a Big Hairy Audacious Goal.
It's a concept that was first coined by our friend and Purple Patch Fitness Founder, Matt Dixon, and it involves signing up for a challenge that takes us outside of our comfort zones.
Here are the goals that the PF&H squad have signed up for in 2026...
The Ultra Crew
Chris Knight - Jurassic Coast Ultra Challenge 100k 16 May 2026
"After failing to get a BHAG in the, er, bag last year, I wanted to take on a challenge that really pushes me out of my comfort zone. So, I've signed up for a 100k in mid-May and there's no backing out now as I've committed to raise money for the brilliant Young Lives vs Cancer Charity, who were so wonderful in supporting us when my son was diagnosed with cancer 18 months ago. I vowed to take on a challenge that was ridiculous when he was going through chemo and now he's fully recovered, May feels like the perfect time!"
Emily Sutton - Maverick Cotswolds Trail 50km 16 May 2026
"June 4th marks five years since one of my closest friends passed away, so I'd like to do something tough and really out my comfort zone to raise money for his charity and hopefully make him proud."
Macie Head - Maverick Cotswolds Trail 50km 16 May 2026
"After doing my first marathon distance on my own last year, I’m going longer this year!"
Josh Sykes - My Longest Run... and an FKT Late March/Early April 2026
"There is a local 64km Long Distance Walking Trail linked to a very distinctive geographical feature and, inexplicably, it doesn't seem to have an FKT associated with it. It would be my longest ever run and I may not set a record to last the ages, but the thought of holding it for even a short while is just too tempting!"

The Marathoners
Ant Gritton - 2:25 at Chicago Marathon 11 October 2026
"I've spent years researching in the trenches, asking runners, and even resorting to ChatGPT for advice on what to do after running a marathon PR.
I can conclusively say 'running another one, only faster' is the only answer I could find. So, here I am, mentally preparing to turn myself inside out for ~20 weeks to run the Chicago Marathon to either set a new personal best or bust. And in either situation, I'm sure there'll be yet another start line waiting for me."
Brad Williams - Sub 2:40 at California International Marathon 6 December 2026
"I've had the goal for a few years now to give Sub 2:40 at 40 years old a crack, and that just so happens to be this year."
Catherine Cull - My First Marathon October/November 2026
"I started taking running seriously in the summer and I've been loving it. I was previously 'forced' to run a bit during Hyrox or Crossfit style workouts and I never tried to get better at it, until now. I've a few niggles to resolve before I can extend my weekly mileage but I'd like to aim at a marathon towards the end of next year if my body allows me! 🤞"
Andy Blow - Making the Start Line of My Goal Marathon California International Marathon, 6 December 2026
"I trained really consistently for the California International Marathon for 9 months in 2025...only to fail to make the start line due to picking up an injury 6 weeks out. Although I thoroughly enjoyed the process, and felt the fittest I've been for several years at the peak of training, there was a lot of angst standing, watching from the sidelines. For 2026 my primary goal is therefore to make the start line healthy and fit...and then (ideally) to try to go Sub 2:45. But making the start line is definitely the BHAG after last year!"

MH and CC, first marathons are special – get the fueling right. AB, the basics matter most: training, fueling, recovery. We need you at that start line.
The Speed Demons
Two runners swapping long, slow miles for short, sharp pain. JD's trading triathlon for sub-80 minute suffering, while RG is coming down from the Spanish mountains to remember what flat and fast feels like.
Jack Davis - Sub 1:20 Half Marathon March/April 2026
"I've focussed on longer distance triathlons and running for a few years now and I'm more excited by slightly shorter distance racing at the moment. The half marathon feels like an inbetween of sustained effort whilst feeling like you are really working hard. Other than the London Marathon last year, I've never put a solid block of running into my training and stepping back from triathlon in 2026 feels like a good test to try and go fast."
Rachael Greene - Sub 1:30 Half Marathon Roses Half Marathon, 4 January 2026
"Since moving to Spain I have swapped the road racing for the trails and have enjoyed not aiming for times and instead have enjoyed the adventure of running off road. However this year I am intrigued to see if I can push myself to run fast and flat rather than steady and mountainous!"

JD, sub-1:20 means your race nutrition is probably just a gel. RG, those mountains haven't made you slower, just... vertically efficient.
Swim-bike-runners
Benji Simpson - IRONMAN® Portugal-Cascais 17 October 2026
"A full distance IRONMAN® has both scared and entice me since I completed a 70.3 a couple of years ago, but I've focused more on lifting and running since as I was in doctorate mode. This year has completely reignited that spark as I've become increasingly inspired by every IM event I've attended. As a heavier fella and pretty poor swimmer, I have never felt confident in the water, so I'll be far out of my comfort zone... but doing this event at IRONMAN® Portugal-Casacais - a place that is special to myself and my Portuguese family - would be epic. Vamos!"
Lindsey Hunt - IRONMAN 70.3® Mallorca** 9 May 2026
"Nothing says romantic holiday away like going to Mallorca and tying in a middle-distance triathlon. That's exactly what my partner Eliza and I have signed ourselves up for this year!".
Tom Robey - 3:45 or Faster 70.3 (or qualify for ÖTILLÖ World Champs) 28 March or First Week of November 2026
"PB in a 70.3 would be close to 3:48 had I not gotten a 5 min penalty. Figured faster than 3:45 could earn me a worlds slot which would be cool. ÖTILLÖ excites me more atm."

Tash Cooper-Smith -Â Ultra Swim 33.3 May 2026
"Swimming is the part of a triathlon I've usually treated like an inconvenient warm-up before the race really starts. I'm one of those triathletes that will spend money to save 6 watts on the bike, then get overtaken in the pool by someone doing head-up-breaststroke. So, in 2026, I've finally decided to 'take the plunge' and make swimming a bigger focus by doing an event that really gives me no choice but to get good and confident in the pool and open water."

The lifter
Sean O'Mahoney - 3 x 8 @ 70kg Squat End of Year 2026
"I have never liked the gym but I've overlooked strength training for too long. This year I'm going back in the gym on a regular basis. It's a straightforward target I have but it will help everything else I do."
